I've taught this workshop so many times over so many years because this class is really a favorite for everyone. I love seeing students creative ideas grow and expand, as they create the first layer of collage and see their ideas come to life...
The Concertina Book is a fantastic way to display your keepsakes: Have it standing up to show off your artwork or set it down and let the pages tell a story in themselves.
In this workshop, you'll be creating a hard-backed accordion-style book. You'll learn how to construct an extensive fold-out book and then how to collage much of the juicy ephemera that's included in your kit, as well as the personal items you bring to your project.

Workshop *ONLINE* December 7th, 12pm-3pm EST
Your kit will include all the materials to build the base of your Concertina book, and lots of collage materials: vintage book pages, a variety of ephemera, colored paper, vintage postage stamps, and envelope templates so we can explore some construction concepts within the pages of your book.
Items to bring to your table:
adhesives (elmers glue, yes paste, etc) & your various scissors, ribbon, hole punch, xacto knife, bone folder, family photos, images you love, hand-written letters, meaningful textiles, quotes, maps, buttons, keys, 3-d objects, anything that can make your book personal and special to you.
It's always a good idea to think about who this creation might be for... will it be for inspirational quotes and pages to keep? will it be a baby book? maybe for someone's birthday? A review of the past year or a goals-list for the coming year?
What begins as blank pages becomes an incredible creation and story telling art-piece.
