This piece was born of a story I created: An old woman living in a cabin in the woods of NH, with about a 5th grade education, loved her family dearly. All she had left of them were photographs. Every time she had another lovely memory of her youth, she would take a large pad of drawing/newsprint paper and would begin to write. First in pencil, the "original writing tool" and then go over it in pen, to "make the memory permanent", always pulling and placing pertinent photos from a large box sitting at her feet. These large sheets of paper were covering the walls of her little cabin. Everywhere you looked was another large page, with scrawled, misspelled stories of her family and friends, neighbors and teachers of her youth. So, she was always surrounded by her most precious memories. And then she could point to them "here is proof of this relationship".
The first piece tells of her love for her brother Gene, who eventually became Gina
