Trees World (Richard Powers)
"This is not our world with trees in it. It's a world of trees, where humans have just arrived."
This quote, which I'm a firm believer in, is from the Richard Powers novel "The Overstory". If you haven't yet read it, I suggest it's the next thing you buy this week (from your local bookstore, of course). I first checked it out from the library, but needed to underline so many things and turn down the corners of so many pages, and then ran over my allotted time, that I happily bought it from the independent, black-owned bookstore Eso Wan (https://www.esowonbookstore.com/)
He also just did a great interview on NPR's BookWorm where he was as excited and passionate as you'd expect him to be.
Collage made with vintage paper, wallpaper, letters, and waxed textile & envelope, mounted on a vintage ledger book cover
quote typed up on my trusty vintage Corona typewriter and stitched with gold metal thread, which is meant to hang freely from artwork, even when framed
Did you just buy this artwork? Awww, Thank You!-- Now, go buy that book!
